Knee deep in t’wonderful world of covid, McDonald’s wanted to remind the nation of their exceedingly good value without slapping a roundel with a price point over a burger.
I wrote a story that is true to so many folk across the UK - the trip to McDonald’s in your very first car, or hand-me-down car in this case (mine being my mum's Volkswagen Polo fox) and how that gesture means so much to someone of that age. Okay, it might not be the Audi TT you (I) imagined but it’s a vehicle to freedom and in this case, McDonald’s.
It resonated with a lot of people, some of my favourite McDonald’s ads are written from true insights, and out of my own work this was one of my personal faves.
Also, since filming this I have seen an abundance of the yellow Fiat Pandas - I hope the owners of which smiled seeing this ad rather than got ridiculed in work too much. Bants eh?
