For the launch of the first electric car by ŠKODA we created this campaign featuring a car built by two loveable robots; 'PU-RR' a gentle and caring soul to reflect the eco-conscious side and 'GR-RR' the impassioned and creative one to reflect the striking design of the car.
I created the story and characters, worked with (ooh-la-la) the very refined French director Frederich Planchon and the clever peeps at freefolk to bring Purr & Grr to life in this lovely 60” piece.
A particular highlight for me coming from an animation background was working with Jake Lunt Davies - a Star Wars character artist who was behind the designs for the Purr & Grr.
Fully integrated campaign with TV, OOH, digital, social, and some ruddy lovely idents for Channel 4 plus the usual plush toys with questionable fire safety.
There was a large media spend for OOH including a special build where PUrr & GRrr break out of the confines of the Skoda ad into a neighbouring eBookers ad.
The ad had a follow-up in 2023 for the launch of the Coupe, a much more beastly version of the SUV. Again Freefolk stole the show…
